ABC Agents Find, Destroy Moonshine Still in Bullock County

Agents of the Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control Board recently located and destroyed an illegal moonshine still near the city of Union Springs in Bullock County.  ABC Agents, assigned to the Moonshine Task Force, working leads developed in the area, located the 13-barrel still hidden in a wooded area off of Peachburg Road in east Union Springs. It is the fourth illegal moonshine operation found and destroyed in Bullock County this year.

Agents, using information gathered from previous investigations and area citizens, located the still concealed in a dense treeline. Agents confiscated 12 barrels of live mash and 1 barrel of low wine, which is the weak or low alcoholic liquid left over after the mash has been distilled. Based on the size of the barrels, it’s estimated that the still was capable of producing 91 gallons of moonshine per week. Although, no arrests were made, agents are looking for a person of interest. The case is pending further investigation.

The agents are part of the ABC Board’s Moonshine Task Force that investigates tips, develops leads, and are skilled in tracking and following trails that are often associated with this type of illegal operation.

Anyone with any information about this case or any other illegal activity is encouraged to call the ABC Board Hotline at 1-800-327-7341. Cash awards are available for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
