Agents Find, Destroy Moonshine Still in Bullock County
Agents of the
Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control Board recently located and destroyed an illegal
moonshine still near the city of Union Springs in Bullock County. ABC Agents, assigned to the Moonshine Task
Force, working leads developed in the area, located the 13-barrel still hidden
in a wooded area off of Peachburg Road in east Union Springs. It is the fourth
illegal moonshine operation found and destroyed in Bullock County this year.
information gathered from previous investigations and area citizens, located the
still concealed in a dense treeline. Agents confiscated 12 barrels of live mash
and 1 barrel of low wine, which is the weak or low alcoholic liquid left over
after the mash has been distilled. Based on the size of the barrels, it’s
estimated that the still was capable of producing 91 gallons of moonshine per
week. Although, no arrests were made, agents are looking for a person of
interest. The case is pending further investigation.
