Agents Find, Destroy Moonshine Still in Barbour County
of the Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control Board earlier today discovered an
illegal moonshine still near the city of Eufaula in Barbour County. Based on tips and other leads, the agents had
been searching for the operation for about a week.
The Agents, assigned to the ABC Board’s Moonshine
Task Force, found the 16-barrel still hidden in a wooded area along Highway 82,
about five miles from Eufaula. Agents destroyed the barrels and cookers, and
seized 45 gallons of moonshine. The moonshine was also destroyed. The cooking
operation was being fed from a nearby creek.
Although no arrests
were made at onsite, the investigation is continuing.
ABC Board’s Moonshine Task Force is a special investigative unit that takes
tips, develops leads, and is skilled in tracking and following trails that are
often associated with this type of illegal operation. Anyone with any
